MENTORING

Through the various educational and academic projects developed as part of its activities, the Foundation selects a number of students each year whose talents they consider promising. By including them in its mentoring programme, the Foundation aims to support the winners of these various projects as they embark on their professional careers.

Based on the personalities of those selected, their personal tastes and their professional projects, the mentoring programme aims to open the doors to the mysterious world of gems and fine jewellery.

Depending on the profile of the students being mentored, and thanks to its network of contacts and partners, the Foundation can offer discovery internships, CV and LinkedIn profile updates, experiences abroad, financial support, networking opportunities, 3D training, purchase of small equipment, legal advices, meetings and exchanges of experiences, or any other support that may be relevant to the student's professional project.

The Foundation is particularly pleased to have the highly respected Tank Fine Gems as a partner, thanks to which a three-month internship programme in Jaipur in its century-old workshops can be offered to students wishing to discover or further their knowledge of professions related to the cutting of exceptional gemstones.

ABOUT THE COMPANY:

Tank Fine Gems is a 150+ year old colorstone manufacturing company based out of Jaipur, India. A historical name in Jaipur, taken international by Mr. Duli Chand Ji Tank, the 5th generation in the business, holds an important role in the lore of the gems and jewelry trade. A legacy of tutelage started by Mr. Rajroop Ji Tank, the 4th generation head, who trained over 2000 students in the gems and jewelry trade.

That legacy is now being carried forward by Mr. Dharmendra Tank, who continues to create incredible stories and pieces. He has followed in his father’s and grandfather’s footsteps to create a global apprenticeship program to pass on the decades of experience and knowledge.

The Rajroop Ji Tank Gems and Jewelry Apprenticeship Program, launched in 2024, strives to open doors that are usually closed for people outside the industry and create an environment of mutual learning.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM:

An immersive program that encourages young professionals out of their comfort zones to grab opportunities for their futures. The program is based in the vibrant city of Jaipur, the heart of the gemstone trade in India and a major international market.

The apprentices will get hands-on experience in working with extremely high quality colorstones. They will learn about the entire journey a stone takes from mine to market. They will learn about the high standards of an international company that prides itself on delivering the highest quality of work.

Their tasks will include and not limited to identifying various colorstones, assorting and grading based on quality, learning the manufacturing process from rough gemstones to cut and polished goods. They will also be asked to learn about making different business decisions and various functions that they are interested in.

The minimum length of the program is three months. This allows students to get a basic understanding of all the facets of working in the gems and jewelry trade. It takes great courage to jump into a place that feels like a whole new world and we are proud to help further the knowledge to the future of the trade.
